PICS |Rand Water releases bugs into Vaal River to kill invasive plants

Bugs have been unleashed as bio-weapons in the Vaal River to help stave off invasive plants flourishing on the water.

On Thursday, Rand Water, along with the Rhodes University Centre for Biological Control, residents and businesses, gathered to witness the release of water lettuce weevil, water hyacinth weevil and water hyacinth hoppers into the water.
